Well i have a nokia phone, and if you download nokia phone tools then you can connect you nokia phone to your computer and send text messages. It still goes through your phone, but is typed up with your computer. So it's not free unless you got free text messages on your phone. Also you need a wire, i don't know much those cost or where to get them sorry.

go to www.cingular.com and type in text messages from the search...there is a place somewhere on there that you can send to a phone number from. But if they reply, it's usually to an email address.

Yes. Type in "text message" on a yahoo search. Then click the Yahoo service that will let you do that. It's easy.

Not sure about all cell providers, but with Sprint/Nextel you can by going to their website.

yup...i do it all the timme....iff you go onto the persons phone...somewhere under settings there is a thing thhat says phone info....the fones web address is in there...ex....bells is..txt@bell.ca

yes.......with yahoo anyway you can. but you have to enter in the person's cell number.
