The only side effect I know of is that you don't get pregnant.

There do not seem to be any side effects, other than the immediate ones of surgery and anaesthetic.

You will still have periods as normal, so your hormone balance shouldn't be affected in any great way, e.g. it will not cause you to go through early menopause like an hysterectomy would. It is also final so you would need to be aware of any psychological side effects should you later change your mind about having more/any children.
