Some modern televisions have a standard monitor socket on the back and can plug directly into the monitor output of the computer, but most don't. In that case, you'll need a WinTV card for your computer.

Yep - but you need a video card or graphics card with tv out to do it. The TV out lets you send your video signal with the proper tv resolution to a TV. TV must be set to correct channel too - most cases it will be TV channel 3.

i do this at home
unfortunateley you cant do both
but graphics cards thatwere made a couple of years back made an s-video input in all the graphics cards just get the wire and locate the pin in the tv and itll work like a charm

You need a special video card that has either a coax, S-video, DVI out or composite output.
