I want to learn basket ball properly. when I played one day I found that one needs to run. After some time I become totally exhausted and pain starts in my stomach. I sweat a lot(chennai, India). I am 19 years old. I am not fat. I have never played hard outside. I feel energetic when I play any outdoor game. but I get discouraged with my lack of stamina. what could be done so that I can play as normal as my friends who play basket ball or what ever everyday(they hav bin playing outdoor games right from age of around 10)

One thing that could help your stamina on the court would be to run suicides....basically running and touching just about each line on the court....start at the baseline and run and touch free throw line, run back to baseline, run to three point, back to baseline, run to half court, back to baseline, run to other end of courts free throw, back to baseline...and then baseline to baseline as hard as you can.......good luck....also just keep playing with people...you'll get the hang of it

You really need to start running more and playing basketball more. Like any sport or skill you need practice on a regular if not daily basis to get better. One old-school drill for getting in better running shape is running full court sprints. Baseline to baseline giving 100% each time. Suicides or Hearts are good too, these are where you start at one baseline then sprint to the near foul line back to the starting baseline then sprint to half-court and back then the opposite foul line and back and then the opposite baseline and back with no break in-between. Also there are many drills you can learn to increase you skill level so you don't have to work as hard to complete certain task while playing.

Basketball can be anaerobic and aerobic. Meaning that it has sprinting and slower movements. The lack of breath can come from the lack of playing the game. You can increase your endurance by continuing to play, going to a track and sprinting 100 meters, jogging 100 meters, and repeating. When it is hot, you can lose a lot of fluid, look to replenish often. If you have health issues or could have, see a doctor asap.
Another thing I noticed new players doing is not breathing properly or in one case, not much at all. They would hold their breath while doing an action... relax and breathe...
best of luck.
Edit, aerobic exercises allows you to replace oxygen etc to stay fine, the other does not

Just drink water and play as much as you can. Maybe take up another sport like soccer to help with the stamina or just jog 30 minutes a day. Endurance goes along way in a sport like basketball. Practice shooting and stuff like that

first of all make sure you keep on practicing, cause eventually your body is going to get use to it. the best advice i can give you is that practice shooting with one hand(left&right),so your jumper gets better and keep running, just drink powerade or something to keep you from getting tired so fast.
