a friend of mine started a new job last month, he hated it from teh word go, he told them in the evening that he would not be coming back, they said they really liked him, but he didn't, he gave his p45, so his new p45 has got the company details on it, now he is looking for something else, he has told a few agencies the truth and it hasn't gone down too well, one has suggested that he not tell anyone about his very brief spell at the company and just fill out a p46 when he starts a new job, is this ok?, he has asked me and wants to know if there si any way that he willbe found out. i don't know, please advise????

Lets forget all details ......

Now lets say, he LOST his P45, then its lost, I suggest he forgets the last day job and says hes lost his p45

Yes, he can tell a new employer that he lost his P45 and ask for a P46. There is no way HMRC would tell the new employer who the previous employer was.
I am not sure the new employer would even be able to tell who the previous employer was from the P45, unless they had an encyclopaedic knowledge of PAYE references of the UK!

I'd keep it on the down low, companies usually look down on not putting in your two weeks notice♥
