Is the song "Blister In The Sun", by Violent Femmes about masturbation?

I have always thought that was what it was about, but I emailed the restaurant "Wendy's" since they play it in their new TV commerial. I told them that it was about masturbation - they emailed me back & assured me that it was not. I could care less, I just thought it was funny & now my wife & I have a debate going - lol.

I can see how you would think that but according to the Gordon Gano, the lead singer, the song is not about masturbation.

According to lead singer Gordon Gano, this song is not about masturbation as popularly thought. He wrote this song about a girl he had a crush on in high school. Gordon was sensitive about his small hands, and on the first day of school a girl came up to him, held his hands in the air, and exclaimed, "Look what small hands he has!" So, he wrote the song from the perspective of a girl lusting after a boy with big hands. This explains the "big hands I know you're the one" line.

I don't know how accurate that is because the only reference is an interview that appeared on VH1.
