Pure genious, the Bears couldn't have made a better deal, Archuleta was just a bad fit for the Skins and they benched him because he complained not because he couldn't play. Archuleta will be a Pro Bowler next year.

As a Bears fan, I was hoping for the Bears to get Archuleta last season, but the Redskins won out with their heftier contract offer. Since Gibbs didn't even use Adam for most of the season for personal issues between the two, Adam ended up not even being utilized for most of the season (blaming injuries as the root of the problem ... which were highly disputed).
Chicago did need to boost their secondary, but perhaps Archuleta may not be the best fit. Doss is a more physical safety that provides better coverage. The major reason for Archuleta going to the Bears is that Lovie Smith knows Adam from St. Louis when he was the defensive coordinator. Lovie may use Adam better than Gibbs, but the Archuleta coverage is still a little off.
However, a 6th round pick is not all that bad for a mediocre SS in this league. Ask the Patriots who used their 6th round pick to get Tom Brady.

Archuleta has been over rated for years. He's just a hard hitter. The Bears will use him properly, unlike the Skins. A 6th round isn't bad to get a back up safety. What I don't like is he's over paid. Like 2.5 million a year, he's not worth that as a back up. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears cut him in the pre-season. Especially if a young player looks promising.

Looks like it could be a good deal for both teams. The Redskins wanted to dump him for his salary and were going to release him if they couldn't trade him so they got a free 6th round pick. And the Bears can use him to his abilities a strong hitter not a coverage safety the was the Redskins were playing him. The Bears would move him back to linebacker and then give Lance Briggs the trade he wants.

Since im a big bears fan. we got the advantage of the deal. Archuleta with his ability to stop the run at safety and is a tackling machine is great. if briggs leave he can fill his role and make tackles like briggs did. but would miss briggs alot and wherever he goes i wish him success but i hope bears can sign him to a long term deal so we can add depth and tackle in the defense depth chart and packages.

Better for the Skins to dump his over priced salary. He was benched during halfway through the season and got traded for a 6th round pick. Does that say something???

The Bears owners are idiots....Archuleta is a good guy to have just in case Mike Brown gets hurt again....but we could have used whatever money we are paying him to get Lance Briggs signed to a long term deal....honestly who would make a bigger impact : Briggs or Archuleta

Archuleta was an overpaid bust for the Skins. He looked like a boy amongst men.
