Metaphorically speaking, lets look to Chinese Astrology...lol.
The Dog is known for it's loyalty, tenacity and watchfulness. The "Foo Dog" is a popular representation and is known as the Celestial Dog or Happiness Dog. It is a symbol of energy and value, and is often displayed in a male/female pair. The male holds a sphere that symbolizes the Earth, while the female holds her offspring.
Pigs are known for their respite from strife, patience and passivity, but also for indulgence, sensuality and fleshly delights. As the last sign of the zodiac, the Pig represents "resignation" accepting human nature as it is - content to live and let live. (Pigs are also known to be clean (believe it or not) and intelligent).
The Dogs and Pigs are known to be good partners for each other, too.

Metaphorically speaking.....I think guys start out marriage hoping they have a pig and loving the pigishness but in the long run, you all end up with a female dog....

I think a pig, they are the more interesting of the two, dogs are too loyal and predictable. Neither men nor women's minds are quite so. I think a goat or a cat would be best though if you are using an animal.

The pig, is she quit eating. The "female dog" is bound to get worse. Of course, I guess that depends on who she directs her female dogginess toward.
