No, but many people think they are. There was an ad for The Times newspaper here in London earlier this year very much in line with your question. "Money and rumpy-pumpy motivate everything we do", they said.

It depends on your caste of mind. The two lower of the four primary castes of India are "sudra" (labourer) and "vaisya" (trader, businessperson). "sh*gging" is the #1 pleasure for the sudra mental caste (which lives to some extent in most people). Money is the #1 pleasure for the vaisya caste of mind.

But this leaves out all the finer and higher aspects of life, those which appeal to our higher-caste mentalities, the "kshatriya" (warrior, administrator, earthly leader) and the "brahmin" (spiritual) in all of us. Such as appreciation of nature, arts and beauty; the joy of giving; love (non-sexual feeling); wisdom; delight in knowledge and in truth; and the pure bliss of God-centred awareness.

shagging = sex for those that do not know. Materialism and sex can mean happiness if that's what you interpret it to be. Being content is different for everyone just as good or bad.

Some people might suffice for simple pleasures others might want to change the world, help other people, make revolutions. If you are selfish and an egotist maybe money and sex is the answer to satisfaction.

They play a part but definently not the keys. A persons true happiness is accepting (IMO) what they are & what they can become.

Happiness is not external.
"It is difficult to find happiness within yourself. It is impossible to find it elsewhere."

It is not what you do or what you have that makes you happy. It is who you are.
