Ok, I have a network connectivity problem that is pretty strange, i've stumped the local help desk and IT guys. Here's the problem.

I have limited / no network connectivity while running normal mode in Windows XP sp2. The PC is not getting a IP address from the DHCP server either.

Reboot into safe mode, the network/internet works fine. I go back into normal mode, i disable all startup services and ect.. in msconfig, and still the same result.

I'm out of ideas and fixing to re-image the box....help!

Here's what I found on Microsoft
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915357/en-us

I would also check
* Device settings/errors in Device Management.
* The error log in Event Viewer

Sounds like you probably have spyware/malware attached to one of the system .dll's running at startup. (There are a bunch of services/processes that always start regardless of what you do in msconfig).

Since you can get a connection in Safe Mode, I would update your AV and run a full scan in Safe Mode. Also, you could compliment that with an online scan like Panda's.

I agree with the Microsoft.com solution.

If for some reason that doesn't work, you can try deleting the hardware driver for your NIC, powering down the machine, bring it back up, when harware wizard recognizes it, reinstall the drivers for the card (do NOT choose use the drivers that are already installed) You can also try updated the driver in the hardware device tab under My Computer.

i ought to apply slightly extra clarification. What does the workstation 192.168.0.fifty one plug into? Do you have a 2d prompt get admission to factor? (that's, do you have a prompt bridge here between a pair of WAPs?) Or is 192.169.0.fifty one connecting with the aid of an inner prompt NIC? i'm attempting to come to a decision the place the cable is going between .fifty one that is working and the others. additionally, is .fifty one set as much as apply DHCP or is it utilising a static IP handle? it ought to be that the DHCP requests are not getting disregarded the bridge, so if .fifty one is static, that's bypassing that concern.
