there are two locations that are open for Retail manager but bth are about 1 hr and 15min away from my home. My current job is 20 min away from home. I have never commuted for a job, and am very nervous that it will wear me out. I do not have to take the position, but, it is looked down upon if you say you want to move up but are not willing to make sacrifices. I cannot move because i have a morgatge for another year and a half. I am also getting married in july, and i feel like it would put a strain on my marraige. What are your thoughts on commuting, and how has it affected you?

Just be honest with them, tell them you're not ready to commute and cannot move, and tell them when you will be able to.

I mean think about it, 1 1/4 hours one way, that's 2 1/2 hours per day, plus let's say at least 6 hours of work, that's 8 1/2 hours out, that means less time for home. This will put a strain on everything, you'll be grumpy and annoyed all the time because you're out there so long. Plus think of the gas, your driving 2 1/2 hours per day just so you can work goes through a lot of it.

So just be honest with them, if they look down on you then they're not a good company anyways. There's plenty of work out there, you can get a good job even if you decline this one.
