increase the humidity

Static is caused by a lack of moisture in the air.The winter season does this to all of us. You should invest in a humidifier. They return the moisture to the air. They are sold in a variety of sizes. Smaller ones can be found at discount department stores like Wal Mart, Target, and K Mart. Larger ones are found at your local home improvement stores like Home Depot or Lowes. Also, make sure to use a fabric softener in your wash, either liquid in the washer or sheets in the dryer. Spray your furniture and carpets with Static Guard. If you put something on and it is full of static then just rub it with a dryer sheet (also good for staticy hair). I have heard that dragging a wire coat hanger along the item with static will help it to discharge. Never have tried that one though.

Carpet creates a lot of static, so if your working with any sort of electronics then never do it on the carpet or even while standing on carpet. If your talking about laundry, then use fabric softner and dryer sheets. These can be obtained at your local grocery store. (you probably knew that though). Also if your static is in your hair, you can take a dyer sheet and rub on your head and throughout your hair to rid the static.

I use a 1/2 of vinegar instead of fabric softener. It takes the static away and the clothes smells fresh and it must cheap and then fabric softener. Just pour where you would put the fabric softener at. I works great and the vinegar makes the clothes have a non static cling and fresh smell. Try it and you will not buy fabric softener again. Good luck and I hope this helps.

If you don't already, be sure to use a dryer sheet in the wash. Also, "static guard" is a product you can buy and spray on the inside of your clothes to reduce it. Sometimes, rubbing a dryer sheet on your clothes does the same thing. I have found that "Downy Wrinkle Release" works also.

You can use either liquid fabric softener or dryer sheets. There is also an item called static guard. All are very good.

Why would you want to?

Blow up some balloons and have a party!

But when you get tired of that... Try some static guard.

They sell a product called Static cling, you can buy in the supermarket, or try Hairspray in the can.
