I was reading an article last night while trying to learn about personalities and I read that there are subselves in an idividual whom has created a false identity with sub selves whom have taken over the host. Has anyone ever heard about this condition and how common is it? I am wondering if this is a theory or a fact. The article even states that you can interview these subselves. Is this logical?

This sounds like multiple personalities.
Jungian psychology suggests that it is caused by suppression or perversion of archetypes of the psyche.
That happened in the movie Fight Club.
Tyler Durden was the subself of Jack.
I like to think that at the end of the movie Tyler Durden no longer exists because he was integrated into Jack's personality.

There are psychologists who are skeptical of the validity of this Dissociative identity disorder.

Do you mean like there are many different personalities and/or different "people" in an individual? Oh, yes this is true. Have you ever seen the movie "Sybil"? Its based on a true story about a young woman who lived with an abusive mother growing up and she created several "people" within herself in order to help cope with the situation. When she went to a psychiatrist later on in life the psychiatrist actually talked to each one of the personalities that Sybille had created within herself. A very hard movie to watch, but, like I said, its based on a true story.
