I had been on birth control for 5 years no problems. Then I stopped taking them for 2 years since my husband had a vasectomy. I was recently given Ortho Novum 10/11 for my endometriosis since my periods lasted forever. I never really had bad cramps before. I have taken this for 2 months and the cramps and back pain I get on my period are horrible now. Has anyone else had this problem? The doctor and the pharmacist acted like I was crazy when I asked them about it. I am about to stop taking it since a shorter period is not worth this pain.

I had the same problem. Discussed it with my doctor and he said it's a trade off for a shorter period. The cramps are to get rid of the uterine lining faster so your period is shorter. Not worth the pain.I agree.

I have been having that same problem as well. It happens to me more often now than before. I noticed my cramps getting worse when I didnt take my pill on time or missed my pill two or more times. It has also happened when I went off of birth control for only a month and got back on it. a friend of mine, her cramps got worse and worse and she ended up coming on her cycle ealier than normal and her doctor told her to stop using that birth control because that wasnt working anymore.

Talk to your doctor, probably the birth control either has too much hormone or not enough. I was on birth control for a long time that was too much hormone and I was having terrible breast tenderness, but I thought it was normal. So I brought it up to my doc 2 years later and they gave me a lower dose of hormone and now I'm great. So talk to your doc!!!
