If you simply can't bear the thought of anti-depressants, know that you are not alone.
I chose, instead, to adjust my daily activities. Herbal teas have made a remarkable substitute for sodas and coffee. My music is a bit louder these days, and I have eliminated relationships that contributed to my negative energy.
Even if these adjustments are not suitable for you, do a tremendous amount of soul searching and discover what is causing your depression. Then FIX it, using analogies you can relate to.
ie....When My life became more than I could bear, I began to see it as a flower bed, out of control and full of weeds. As I made changes within myself, I planted roses in my life, and weeded out the things that made me feel ugly.

I can tell you that in the end those drugs make you numb. And they don't really address the problem that you are going through. I would suggest a therapist or get into a group. That way you have people that understand you and can help you get through the bad stuff. And it's my belief that people are strong enough to reason anything and get through it with the proper motivation. I wish you the best.

There are many things you can do if you are feeling stressed, for example just taking time away from the person/people or things making you feel that way. You don't always need to resort to taking medication as it's easy for you to become very dependant on them, and if you don't take them one day you will start to feel even lower than you're feeling now.
It's really up to you, but i try not to take them. God Bless xxxx

if you are depressed for no reason, then maybe you should. if you have good reason for feeling unhappy then no. feeling unhappy is part of the human condition. its OK to feel sad now and then. as long as you can pull yourself up eventually, deal with what has made you so down, learn from it and move on. if you cant do this, or there is no good reason for you to feel this way, then you probably have clinical depression, in which case, yes. you do need medication. also, maybe some counselling, or at least a shoulder to cry on now and then

Don't take it because you will soon come to depend on it. Not to mention the side effects. Take control of your own feelings and get help addressing and working through any problems. Medication only masks the symptoms, it does not address the problem.

u didnt explain the sercumstance. generally if the doctor says you may have side effects, then you will have side effects (unless they are just covering their back, and you shouldn't take the chanse) that probably wont be pleasant therefore stay away. if they say there will be no effects then u can safely say there wont be as they always cover their back if theres a posibility
