What if the Sisters of Mercy in Chicago knew that Sister Norma Gianini was guilty of statutory rape in Milwaukee in the 1960s and didn't tell the parents of her students in Chicago? What if the Sister Norma is being prosecuted in Milwaukee currently? Is it a crime to have a confidentiality agreement with an accused sex offender?

If Sister Norma were a priest wouldn't this story be front page news in Chicago?

Yes and as a matter of fact not just the one that you mentioned, but all of the nuns that knew about preist molesting children and didn't try to stop it.

It's important not to make judgments without all the facts. That said, hiding any kind of criminal activity (especially when it involves a minor), is clearly wrong. In this case, it sounds like one wrong was compounded by another wrong: namely, that Sister may have continued to function in a position where she was a threat to harm young people. I am not a lawyer, so I cannot speak to whether or not it is a crime to have an agreement with an accused sex offender. As one who has studied moral theology, though, I can say that it would certainly be morally wrong to hide something that would harm the common good (i.e., society).

Even with nuns involved, anything that's against the law should be reported. Or called for an investigation, either way, its a must because the some people in the world are trying their best to prevent more crimes.

this form of rhetoric is appropriate to make persons responsive to this impediment. the subject is definitely plenty extra useful among clergy of option faiths. The Southern Baptists expected that as much as fifteen% of their clergy have been worried in sexual abuse. that's time that different church homes persist with the occasion of the Catholic Church and rid themselves of those sexual predators and stop the conceal ups. people that are harmed deserve restitution and transparency might desire to be maintained approximately this considerable venture. There might desire to be a 0 tolerance for this form of behavior merely like the Catholic Church has observed that provides all church homes a favorable kind to bypass by using. I applaud the Church for being so candid and obvious in addressing this venture. God bless! In Christ Fr. Joseph

Never a deed goes unnoticed by the Universe just because humans have a disagreement about what is wrong or right, ethical or unethical. Equaly, there are those that toil hard to earn the impossible: lasting punishment

By law it's not a crime to have an agrement with a sex offender. But is a crime to keep it confidential...you have to disclose that to everyone..especially the parents!!

Yes its wrong. If you know of something happening that is against the law especially in a case like that you are just as guilty as the person doing it if you don't report it. Well in my opinion anyways.
