Not even close, it's Christopher Reeve. He actually made both Clark and Superman seem believeable as human beings, without getting too silly.

Well, that's hard. Someone already said that the newer guy looks like Superman the most and I agree, but I'd have to say that, oddly enough, the one that I feel makes a more convincing Superman is the dude from the "Smallville" show, if only because being a TV show, the character is more developed. The others are far too cartoonish for my taste. I mean, come on, Chistopher Reeve's Clark and Superman are way too dorky, reminiscent of Adam West's Batman. Same goes for the newer version, which is essentially a homage to Reeve's portrayal. As for George Reeves, well, I wouldn't know. Never seen his serial for more than a few seconds in a documentary or two, so I have no opinion.
Funny thing, though, Dean Cain ended up having quite an impact on the icon that is Superman. I don't know how many of you have noticed that, after Cain's stint as Superman in the "Lois & Clark" show, the character's looks changed. Superman from the 90s became bigger, hairier and darker (take a look at the "Death of Superman" comic book) and moved away from the classic pasty white portrayal as seen, for example, in the Superfriends cartoon. The version portrayed on the WB's cartoon from the 90s, as well as the more recent Justice League show, is darker-skinned like Cain, and so is Tom Welling. Sure, he's still got blue eyes and is a farmboy from Kansas, but he's no longer the Aryan poster boy that Hitler would love, and I think that's really cool.

I think it probably depends on your opinion. I am not really sure because I have not seen some of these people. It also depends on what generation you come from and therefore what you have grown up watching. Personally, I believe Christopher Reeves made an awesome Superman and I believe he was a wondrous actor and person. He played the role so well and will probably always be the most well known Superman.

P.S. Tom Welling is cute though.

In my opinion, I would have to say that the best actor that has ever played Superman is Christopher Reeves. The reason why I am saying this is because of the fact that Christopher Reeves embodied and embraced the term "Man of Steel" when he played the character and still embraced that term even when he had his accident and became paralyzed.

Sorry, I've got to go with Christopher Reeve. He was believable as Clark, and that helped him make a good Superman.

To my wisdom there has in basic terms been 3. the 1st committed suicide (George Reeves), the 2nd died as a effect of his injuries (Christopher Reeve) and what's going to happen to the 0.33?
