Reason I ask was because condensed vapor (water) was dripping from vent pipe and messed up my ceiling.

I let it run until the mirror is dry again. If you cut it off too soon then you're not really dissipating the moisture that's condensed on the walls and mirrors and you still have a moisture problem in the room...like feeding mildew.

Only until the steam is gone. Then you are just venting heat or air conditioning and wasting energy. Five minutes should do it.

i usually turn the vent off. just open the door usually within a few min. its done. save electricity.
