Aw, is it a boy or a girl?

Even though they are dressed entirely in pink with a little bow on their head?

I get this all the time, mainly from old people and whe I mention the fact that she is pink, they say oh you can never tell these days....
Does anyone else get this?

Yes, don't take it personally. I once made the mistake of calling a baby a girl, it was a boy wearing his sister's hand me downs. And some clothes are pretty unisex these days too. But I would have my son dressed in baseball clothes with a boy haircut at 2 year old and people still would say "her eyes are so beautiful!" I just accepted the compliment. He does have beautiful eyes after all.

I got that alot with all 3 of my girls.....I started out being very polite when people would say "o what a cute little boy" and just very kindly correct them. But by the time my third daughter came along I was so fed up with peoples ignorance I would just respond with.....SHE is wearing a pink dress.....would you put YOUR little boy in a pink dress?

I mean come on instead of sounding soo stupid....if they are wearing pink chances are they are a girl(although I have seen quite a few outfits for boys that are pink now...but still looking very boyish) If they are wearing blue chances are it is a boy....and if you can't tell from what they are wearing then don't make an assumption.

All the time, I do get quite offended too. My beautiful little daughter is usually dressed in pink or girlie coloured clothes and always gets called a boy. She's 16 months old and doesn't have that much hair but i put a clip in it yet this doesn't help. I thought her purple sparkly shoes may give some clue but still it happens. I'm looking forward to summer when she can wear skirts and dresses. I love her what ever she looks like.

Well, I do understand where they are coming from to a certain extent. But I have two babies, a boy and a girl. I got so tired of people asking I always dress them in pink and blue to make sure...and still get asked. I have no idea what the deal is...but these days there are plenty of boy clothes in pink, and girl clothes in blue...I guess they are just trying to be sure before saying "oh how cute he it" and it's a girl!

The other day I saw a toddler in the bookstore and I thought boy - bib-overalls, bold red shirt, and very active/energetic. Then I saw the flower high-tops - so I asked and it was a girl.

My first has thick curly blond hair and I did not get it cut until he was one. Even with jeans and racecar shirts some asked "her" name and I would nicely say (while fuming inside) "his name is Robert"

Then I had #2 (girl) and #3 (boy) and they each wore hand me downs. Sooo, little girl, who had almost no hair until 2 wore little blue sailor outfits and such and most of the time I heard "he's handsome, etc". And baby boy (now 2) can wear many of sissy's shirts - so he's picking pink and purple flower shirts. I just laugh now.

Admires of babies and toddlers are stuck either way - if they ask boy or girl - some will be offended. Then if you say "how handsome" and it's a girl - others will be offended.

Try to be happy that you have a healthy, happy and beautiful little girl and when someone admires your little marvel and asks boy or girl, just smile and say girl.

I hate that! I get it all the time. My son will be 3 in June. He would have on all blue and people come up and ask if he was a boy or girl. He has long hair now so that makes it worse. He had on a spiderman outfit one day the young guy came up to me and said she's so cute. Another day I ordered a pizza, my son runs to the door because he wants to pay for the pizza. He had on boy spiderman underwear and spiderman slippers of course the guy said thank you princess. My son said I'm not a princess. princess is girls. It happens when ever we go out. You are not alone.

Yes my little boy has big brown eyes with really long eyelashes and a heart full shape lips so I guess just because of that people often think he's a girl even though he's always in blue and obvious boy clothing like jeans with little car's on the side and a blue t'shirt with a little car!! It really pisses me off I think I should customize a shirt for him and put in big bold capitalize letters that will say "I'M A BOY" maybe then they'll stop asking me.

OK get this...my 7 month old daughter had a bow in her hair, her ears are pierced and she was wearing a dress (not to mention she was in a pink car seat) and some lady kept saying, "Does he sleep through the night, how many teeth does he have..."

I'm like, um, SHE sleeps through the night and has 7 teeth...seriously...what are these people thinking?!?!?!

Oh, my gosh; yes! It drove me nuts. I wanted to scream at them. My baby girl didn't have hardly any hair when she was born and she would not keep a bow on her head so it was really bad. I was so glad when her hair started growing. Personally, I don't know anyone that would dress their baby boy in pink so I don't know how anyone could think a baby dressed in pink could be anything BUT a girl. I sympathize with you!
