Safe, yes should you on a regular basis, I wouldn't. Your gold fish require different vit. and minerals which dog food does not contain. It also contains a higher content of corn meal (some do) These are not bad for your fish. Dry cat food from my outside cats sometimes blows into the pond along the walk way. It has never had any ill effects on my fish. Also, for as quickly as your fish are going to eat the food, a piece or two does not contain enough oil to "lay on the surface" of your tank or pond. So that isn't the concern.

As a treat or something different, it won't hurt them. Perhaps you should try an orange, green bean, piece of cuke or lettuce.

Before you do, try a little experiment. Put a piece of the dog food in a glass of water about the same temperature as your tank water and let it sit about 15 minutes. You'll probably notice your glass has an oily film on the water's surface. Dog food has a higher fat content (for energy) than what fish need. The oily film will interfere with the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide at the water's surface, so you could be interfering with the amount of oxygen in the water for your fish to breathe. Think about that.

why would you feed your fish dog food? if you ran out of food and can't get more just ddn't feed them anything. fish are fine usually for up to 4 or 5 days without food, just don't make a habit out of it. even feeding fish every other day is perfectly fine. if you feel you need to feed it something until you get more food try a frozen pea, thaw it in hot water then take the skin off it. fidd the insides to the fish.

Why would you wanna do that? Go get some fish food, they are fish, not dogs. If they ate the same food, there wouldn't be separate kinds of food for them.

formerly you do, attempt slightly test. placed extremely the canines nutrition in a tumbler of water regarding a similar temperature as your tank water and permit it take a seat approximately 15 minutes. you will likely notice your glass has an oily movie on the water's floor. canines nutrition has an stronger fat content fabric (for potential) than what fish want. The oily movie will intervene with the replace of oxygen and carbon dioxide on the water's floor, so which you ought to be interfering with the quantity of oxygen interior the water to your fish to respire. think of roughly that.
