It's $7 per trade to buy, another $7 to sell plue sales fee from of about $1 per $30,000 as a percentage.
ie. Buy $90,000 of GE, you will pay $7, then $7+about $3 to sell = $17 round trip
Depending on your broker, they might charge extra for limit order. You can get $7 with TDAmeritrade if you ask them to lower the commission. They are the best and they don't charge extra for limit order or other hidden fees.

They charge $7 each time you do anything. Also, if you happen to be interested in penny stocks, there is usually an additional percentage added on top of the $7.

You pay $7 to sell
AND
You pay $7 to buy
So, if you are buying and selling 100 shares per transaction you will be paying $0.07 per share. If you buy and sell 1000 shares per transaction you are paying $0.007 per share. If you trade less than 1000 shares per transaction there are much better deals available than $7 per trade.
