I pretty much need this advice for my little sister...I want her to make an informed decision about the school she picks...I cannot simply go off of my decions because I knew what I wanted to major in and I knew I wanted to be as close to home as possible which only left me one school to choose...I want her to have an awesome college experience along with a great education....thanks!

Wow! You sound like a dream sister! How awesome that you really care about her having such a positive experience while at college. While I did attend community college, I would think that choosing the right college would include if the person would prefer commuting to the college or living on-campus in a dorm (or apartment during later years) or residing at a further location away from home, how safe the area of that college is (can perhaps check the crime rate with local police of that municipality), her (or your parents') budget and how much money she is allotted to spend on college (and she may also get some loans and/or grants), the majors offered that interest her and if they are known for a strong psychology program (for example), if she feels comfortable on campus, if they have school activities that she has a passion for such as a community service club or political science club, if the school is known for having professors that are likeable, dedicated, well-respected.

Hopefully she is aware of the danger of being on-campus such as date/acquaintance rape and that no one should leave their glass unattended and then take a sip from it again. Rohypnol, the 'date rape' drug also known as roofies can be slipped in the glass or cup surreptitiously, and the drug has no color to it or odor. Just a word to the wise :)

The key to college education is finding a program that is going to allow her to learn, challenge herself and get good grades. Even if sis doesn't know her major she needs to feel that she will be able to cope with the work. Is there enough resources so that if she needs help for classes in Calculus 3 she can get it, or if she wanted to research the fluid dynamics of water under a hovercraft, she can? Is it place for jocks, nerds, and regular squares? And what the heck am I (she). Whether or not, the college has academic and non academic activities, which can hold her interest. Another point is can she graduate with the least expense to her and her family, like scholarship opportunity, free money. Does she want or afford to move away from home or if she wants to stay nearby and will she be safe.Conclusively can she can find herself, both strength’s and weakness on her way to being a good member of society, while doing all the fun stuff associated with learning.
