I love that novel. it took place in south africa and because of that i really want to visit south africa. that is one of the best novels i have ever read and i love the fact that it was written by a british author. i highly recommend this book!!! Does anyone have any recommendations of any fiction books i can read?? only fiction lol, i am not a big fan of fantasy books ( such as harry potter). i prefer books that have a more realistic approach to life...thats why i dont like fantasy books.

Hi there.
That is a book I really want to read, will definitely track it down.
Try "A Suitable Boy" for a brilliant view of India, try "No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency" for a brilliant view of Botswana, "The Poisonwood Bible" for darkest Africa. Enjoy!
Cheers, Steve.
PS Unless you want a swop?

I got half way through, but found the style a bit hard going! However I love the film - starring Morgan Freeman as Geel-Pieet, and Stephen Dorff as Peekay. And the soundtrack by Hans Zimmer is just beautiful!! - Full of African songs, just beautiful.
I love reading too. Some good ones I've read recently -
Short History of Tractor's in Ukranian - Maria Lewycka
Two Little Girls in Blue - Mary Higgins Clark
And the CSI series of books is always a good fallback.

Yes I have read this book - lived in SA too.
Unfortunately the author is badly biased against the Afrikaaner and tends to stereotype them.
Otherwise a good book.

I've read it, it's a great read. Have you seen the film? Also good - but the book is better.
