Place the mixture in a beaker and adddistilled water. heat on over a Bunsen flame, using tripod and guaze, stirring the mixture as you heat.

filter off the mixture and collect both the filtrate (salt solution) and the residue (sand).

wash the sand carefully until the washings do not give a white precipitate with silver nitrate solution (test for chloride ions). All the salt has been removed then. Place the sand in a dish and allow to dry in the sun or over a Bunsen flame.

Using a crucible or evaporating dish, evaporate the salt solution to concentrate it. When a drop of the solution on a glass rod forms crystals, then allow the solutionin the container to cool. Crystals of sodium chloride will form. Filter off the remaining solution (mother liquor) and collect the crystals. Allow the crystals to dry in the sun or over a slow Bunsen flame.

You now have dry samples of both salt and sand.

Well the possible way I know is this.

Mix sand and salt into suitable amount of water.Salt dissloves leaving Sand which can be easily filtered.
Now evaporate the water to get back Salt.
