Someone made a very good point about Kurt Cobain of Nirvana earlier. In the lyrics to Come As You Are, he said:
And I swear
That I dont have a gun
No I dont have a gun

So why did he lie?

When this song was written he may not have had a gun. If he did obtain a gun at a later date, I suggest he neglected to adjust the lyrics accordingly.

He did not lie, he was murdered.
READ "LOVE AND DEATH" by Mark Wallace and Ian Halperin.
Kurt was absolutely not suicidal and the book explores how Courtney is a manipulative and pathological liar who wanted to become a rock star at any expense, even at her husband's death since he wanted a divorce (as confirmed by their attorney).
There is so much evidence outlined in that book to show that the suicide claim is completely false.
One example is the so-called "suicide" note was even forged (the last four lines of the note, which are the only reference to anything remotely sounding like suicide, was written in a completely different handwriting style. Oh by the way; found in Courtney's backpack by her attorney were sheets of paper with characters written several times that obviously was used for practicing handwriting styles).
She's a manipulative and pathological liar who without a doubt had something to do with his murder.

Hang on. Who said he was talking literally about himself? He's admitted to sometimes adding pieces of writing into a song because it fit well into place.
The question of whether he is lying is completely unfounded. There is no point or even a cause for argument.

If you read Kurt Cobain's biography. Theres alot of evidence that Courtney had someone kill him. There's evidence that so much herion was in his body that after he supposedly injected himself it would of hit him right away and he wouldnt of been able to lift the gun. So he might not of been lying!

But he didnt own the gun he shot himself with... his friend gave it to him ... so maybe he didnt have a gun?

It's just a song. Most pplz say things in their songs that may not be true. I do't consider it lying. They rite songs and just put lyrics in there whether or not they are true or not.
