Yes, you do. They will do some uterine and cervix measurements. Then, they will let you go to the bathroom before they do the rest of the exam.
My clinic here made me drink a FULL LITER!!!
I suggest not sitting when you get to the clinic but find an 'out of the way' place to stand up. This will not press so much on your bladder while you wait for your liberation.

They said I needed to drink 32 oz before I went in and hold it for 1 1/2 hours. I was like YEAH RIGHT! I couldn't even go 20 minutes without peeing no matter how little water I drank. My bladder was VERY tender in early pregnancy for some reason. I "cheated" and went to the bathroom and emptied my bladder before the ultrasound. And you know what - my pictures came out GREAT! My midwife later said that's baloney - that yes the ultrasound waves need liquid to bounce off of, but you should be fine as long as your not dehydrated.

Strangely enough, not this time... During my 1st pregnancy, 7 years ago, I did have to drink a lot of water (1 L) before the 1st two (i think) scans and it was really hard. Now, the doctor actually asked me to empty my bladder cause it was too full and i did not feel it so. I did not ask why, just thought 7 years does make a difference...I am almost 24 weeks pregnant and done 2 ultra-sound scans

Yes you need to have a FULL bladder. Almost to the point where you can't walk you have to pee so bad. The reason is so the techs can see if you a dilating yet. If you are they need to take action. They might be nice and check that first then let you use the rest room, I would ask. This ultrasound could take some time.

Congratulations, definite you will ought to empty your bladder a million hour in the previous the ultrasound then drink 1L of water or a minimum of 850 mls in the hour, Its very commonplace to commence feeling your toddler circulate for the 1st time at 20 weeks, because it is your first being pregnant, for each being pregnant after it gets in the previous. it is going to likely be uncomfortable for the 1st couple of minutes of the ultrasound yet after the bladder, cervix, tubes, and ovaries are checked you would be allowed to empty your bladder and then the ultrasound would be all with regard to the toddler. you would be in there for about 20 minutes to 40 5 minutes as they examine and degree each and every thing. you could ask for the intercourse of the toddler at this appointment and you will take transport of a due date that could selection out of your modern-day date. terrific needs

When I had my 20 week ultrasound they told me to drink 1 liter of water an hour before my appointment. Apparently it's more to check your uterus than anything else. I had to relieve myself really badly and as soon as they looked at my uterus they let me go to the bathroom so I could actually enjoy watching my boy tumbling around. Thank goodness!

I had to have my bladder full for each of my ultrasounds, I just went to Sonic and got a Route 44 water and that seemed to do the trick!

Unfortunately yes...I remember the drive in, I had to go so bad I had to stop and pee. So I stopped at a gas station and had to pee. I bought another bottle of water to drink to replace what I had to let go. I go in for my ultrasound totally doing the pee pee dance till it was my turn. Get even better. MY bladder is too full, so they hand me a Styrofoam cup and tell me to let out a cup full...really fun to try and stop when you have to go so bad. Thought my story might make you giggle...sure did me!!

you need to have a full bladder for the ultrasound. make sure you do not go to the bathroom before you go otherwise they will make you sit there and drink water until your bladder is full enough for them to do the ultrasound.
i made the mistake of doing that my first ultrasound and had to sit there for about an hour and drink water.

just drink like... a glass, although youre probably gonna have to pee before you go in to the ultrasound room so take a bottle of water with you...
i actually drank kool aid because i wanted him to get hyper and move around a lot... which can be good or bad, if he moves too much you wont be able to see, and if he doesnt move at all and isnt in a good posistion you ... wont be able to see either, lol good luck!
