No, we have proper full size showers for adults and baby baths, for the littl'uns.
OK, I know what you really mean.... No, we dont have the same sort of thing that you call a baby shower... at least not in a formalised sense as you would in the USA

Hi, Yes i know of two people that have had baby showers and I live in the UK, it is an American thing but are getting more popular over here.
Its just a big meeting with family and friends with lots of baby talk and lots of giving presents and playing guess what the babie name will be etc etc.

No, it's an American thing. I like the idea of a baby shower though.

Ignore the stupid answers about bath tubs and rain.
The truth is, no we don't have baby showers, it is an American thing.
You just tend to give gifts after the baby is born, in some ways it makes more sense as you know whether you're buying for a girl or a boy.

I had one and it was fun. I had a lots of presents and vouchers from mothercare. It helped a lot financially to family because after all we had to buy what was left in the list. I think it's great idea and good support for family. As well, that's your baby's first party!
Have one and trust me you won't regret it!
Forget about if it's American or Uk thing just do it if you want one.
Good luck!

No we don't generally. I don't know anyone who has had one either. It must be an American thing only - but that makes us all interesting 'cos we are all different.
Not sure if we are allowed to ask questions back - but will anyway.....Do you give presents when the baby is born as well?

I went to a baby shower for a work colleague, but our boss is from Boston and she paid for it all. Wasnt not going to go!
Not normally a thing we do, but we are getting more americanised by the day, so it will probably be tradition before long.

Heh... let me enlighten a few people cause they seem confused. "Baby Shower" refers to a party thrown in honor of the new baby and mother (generally around the 7th month of pregnancy). There are party games, cake, and gifts for mom and baby. Hope I've helped!

I'm having one. But it's just an excuse for a get together with the girlies really. We are going to a nice cafe and having some drinks and nibbles while I can still get out. No games involving squished chocolate bars in nappies!!
