Not long ago was a mess with the 2nd round of the NBA western playoffs invovling 2 teams (dallas and san antonio i believe) that shouldve been in the conference finals, not semi finals. so the rules changed and i think now it works like: 3 division leaders and 1 wild card team get top 4 seeds, then next 4 by record. This year the east is a mess, central division is stacked. how does seeding work? who will get home court advantage? if the bulls play the raptors 1st round, have a lower seed but better record, who will get home court? is home court determined by record or by seed? and were the changes made to the frequency of home/away games, is it still 2,2,1,1,1 (home, away, home, away, home) or is it 2,3,2? does it change for the championship?

You have it right. The 3 division winners and the top wild card team get the top 4 seeds in each conference. The difference from last year is last year the division winners grabbed the top 3 seeds and the best wild card could only get the #4 seed. This year if the top wild card has the second best record they get the #2 seed ahead of division winners with inferior records. But a division winner is assured of having no worse than a #4 seed. As far as seeds #5 thru #8, they go to the best remaining wild cards in order of record.

As far as home court advantage, it goes to the team with the better record, regardless of seed. So for example, based on their current records, if the #4 seed in the east, Toronto plays the #5 seed, Chicago in round 1, Chicago would have home court advange because they have the better record, although Toronto has the better seed.

Home and Away games still use the 2-2-1-1-1 format for the conference playoffs, 2-3-2 for the NBA Finals.

No you look at the NBA records right now for each conference.

Dallas has the number 1 spot in the West that mean they will play number 8 in the west, the number 2 Pheonix would play number 7 The Number 3 Spurs would play the number 6 team and Number 4 team Utah would play the number 5 team.

Now that is the first round. The second round would be the winners of the first round. So it would be the Winner of 1 vs. 8 vs. the winner of 4 vs. 5 and Winner of 2 vs. 7 vs. the winner of 3 vs. 6. Then the winners would move on the the Western Conference Finals.

No its all about record

1vs.8 2vs.7 3vs.6 4vs.5

the bulls would get home court

and homecourt is decided by seeds (top 4 seeds)

its 2,3,2
