My parents were from India but I was born and bred in London so I feel 100% English. I would love this country to have a national day as so many other countries set aside a public holiday to celebrate their existence. The Irish have 2 bank holidays for St Patricks! So YES, lets have a St George Day bank holiday and deck all the pubs in white and red balloons, have a parade in Trafalgar Square and drink lots and lots of ale to celebrate this great country!

Yes we should have a bank Holiday for old St George the Dragon Slayer, The Irish get a day off for St Paddy to celebrate and maybe if we had a day off the English would celebrate be English a little bit more.

Yes It should be a national holiday - with all the trimmings. St Georges flag should be flying high with pride and we should celebrate with traditional English food and Beers & Ciders. the other patron St days get celebrated in other parts of the UK...... Oh but I forgot the English aren't allowed to be patriotic as others might see it as being rascist or insulting to them.

Most Definitely! Its the Patron Saint of England! (And my dad's birthday!). Last Saturday our locals were rammed with people celebrating St Patrick's night even though probably less than half of them were Irish! So come on lets celebrate St George!

Definitely. It should be a holiday in the midst of the outrage to over pc culture. I think that this should be a holiday celebrating English culture and history showing that we still have a culture of our own. however, I believe that other cultures should be encouraged to take part and bring some of their culture to it. For instance, their are large amounts of British Muslims who should celebrate England as their home but also acknowledge their Muslim heritage. If we could that, I am sure a lot of the suspicious nature of both sides could be reduced!
