Just have him look at that face. Those bright eyes and that plodding about the house attitude that they can do anything. They're sooooo cute!
How could anyone resist something like that? I'm one of the few that can. : P If you don't have the time or patience to deal with a baby kitten, then it's probably not the best idea. Grown cats are a lot more independent and find happiness in more subtle ways. The kitten will be looking for you day and night and may be tough to introduce to the household. You'll want to let the grown cat and kitten get used to each other through a gate or some other means of separation, until they show genuine non-aggressive interest in each other.
Good luck!

How funny, I am in the EXACT same situation. I was going to bring home a kitten today and say awww honey look what I found in the parking lot of the super market, poor little thing, we have to help her. I am actually going to see the kittens tonight after work with my sister and her friend. I have a cat that I adopted about a month ago (adult cat 7). But I want a kitten too.

If one is good, do you think two would be better. Well, why not get 12. Who cleans the litter box? Who takes care of the animal: feeding, vet bills, etc. ? Persuading a man is definitely a difficult task. Communication is the key. What's wrong with the cat you have now? Have you out grown this animal?

Set a good time to talk to him, dont bring the issue when you just feel like, but set a time when everything is okay. Tell him why you want another cat, and find out why he does not want to have another one. He may not be a pet person, and having one for your sake is sacrifice enough.
If you are going to have a lot of "I" in a relationship, things dont work out good, I take this from your question...," How can I...," then, "...let me..."
These denote to me like selfish expressions.

Just do it, he won't sulk for more than a day or two and then you have the rest of the cats life to enjoy.

Is he your husband or your father? Get a damn kitten! My husband brings home all kinds of strays without once asking my permission! I just don't take care of his brats - he does.
