I have been living and working in foreign countries for almost 20 years now. First in Asia and now in the Caribbean and South America, longer actually than I ever lived in the UK.
I find, as you do, that it is the small things that you miss the most. Wagon Wheels are my biggest vice, but I do have to agree on the Tetley Tea Bags. And I also remember once that watching "Billy Connolly's World Tour of Scotland" set of the biggest bout of homesickness I have ever felt.
Strangely enough though, the thing I miss the most is feeling cold. Airconditioning does not count. I am not sure I could put up with it all the time, but I havent actually felt cold in years and I miss it

I moved to Ireland from the UK and didn't think there would be much to miss, until I arrived here!!

I miss the English sense of humour, the fish & chip shop (am with you on that one!), Ikea and my parents (no. 1 of course)!!

There are so many cultural differences here, even though it is so close to the UK....but don't get me wrong, I do love it here!!

I finished my working life and left England 10 1/2 years ago. I have never been back and can honestly say I haven't missed a thing. Even though the language, the writing, food and culture are totally different, I prefer it here.

well you would miss people that speak english and your relitives that still live here in england. Plus you won't be used to the weather in a different country. There are lots of things you could miss it matters what kind of person you are. Here is a poem:
If going to another country is your fate,
then get there and don't be late.
But if you fellings are soft,
you will spend a lifetime crying in a loft

I would miss:
Only in Britain ...
... can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.
... do supermarkets make sick people walk all the way to the back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
... do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counters.
... do we leave cars worth thousands of pounds on the drive and lock our junk and cheap lawn mower in the garage.
... do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.
... are there disabled parking places in front of a skating rink.
Not to Mention ...
... 3 Brits die each year testing if a 9v battery works on their tongue.
... 142 Brits were injured in 1999 by not removing all pins from new shirts.
... 58 Brits are injured each year by using sharp knives instead of screwdrivers.
... 31 Brits have died since 1996 by watering their Christmas tree while the fairy lights were plugged in.
... 19 Brits have died in the last 3 years believing that Christmas decorations were chocolate.
... British Hospitals reported 4 broken arms last year after cracker pulling accidents.
... 101 people since 1999 have had broken parts of plastic toys pulled out of the soles of their feet.
... 18 Brits had serious burns in 2000 trying on a new jumper with a lit cigarette in their mouth.
... A massive 543 Brits were admitted to A&E in the last two years after opening bottles of beer with their teeth.
... 5 Brits were injured last year in accidents involving out of control Scalextric cars.
AND FINALLY !! ...
... In 2000, 8 Brits cracked their skull whilst throwing up into the toilet.
RULE BRITANNIA!! - Britannia waves the rules...

I live in USA but I plan on move to eastern Europe in next couple years. I would miss my kick boxing and mixed martail arts gym the most. Beside that I won't miss too much. Most american doesn't really like deaf person and treat them like trash.

Oh and I forgot to add this; I would definitely miss breakfast! In Czech they doesn't serve breakfast for some reason ugh!

I call two countries my home and I miss different things for each of them. For one I would miss the tropical weather, beaches and laid back approach to life. For the other I would miss the city life, the fast-paced life style, the promise of great opportunity and adventure.
