I'm supposed to ovulate on March 31st which would mean that my due date would be right around Christmas. Hubby has finally decided to try having children but we know that concieving won't be easy for us. I'm just wondering if we should wait a cycle or should we just go for it? I want to just go for it but I'm also not sure if I want to have a Christmas baby. What are some of the pros and cons of having a baby at Christmas time? My mom's b-day is Dec 15 and my due date would be Dec 22. We live very close to both our families. Any advise please?

We are Christian so Christmas is a big holiday for us. I know that not everyone gets preggo the first time but several of my friends did. And my SIL is due in November after trying for one cycle.

My niece is a Christmas baby and she has always liked it. She never regretted sharing her special day and always said she liked it because "she and Jesus have the same birthday" which is weird to hear, since she isn't particularly religious. My sister didn't mind spending the holiday in the hospital, especially when she got such a great present!
I would go for it. The chance of your baby actually being born on Christmas or even in the few days before or after it are slim. You may have the birth over and done with a few weeks before the holiday, or not go into labor until after the new year. Whatever the case, if you have any issues at all trying to conceive, it is best to take advantage of any opportunity you have
.
I wish you luck!

My 3 year old was born Dec 29th... and I have been just having to postpone his party for a week later to get anyone to come... Everyone is so burned out on parties. But I love my baby, and I figure that what happened was what was meant to be, so I have no qualms about it. It's just going to be that my kid will never have his birthday be so all-about-me, since everyone is so busy with holiday stuff (Xmas and New year) - but if that is the biggest problem I have to deal with as a mom or he has to deal with as a child we are both better off than 99% of the people in this world.

i think it fine if the baby is born around christmas that mean he get two presents or one present on his birtthday and one on christmas..(never spoiled if they close to christmas birthday.. My god mother and friend birthday is christmas eve and my is the first week of dec and i was told i was two weeks early.. and my godsister is 20 and my godbrother is dec 17 and my niece is dec 31 and i have friends birthday on dec ...
You can always have party for christmas and birthday together.. I have very close family but buying present you can combine it or you seprate.. that up too you..
My best friend complain that my birthday in dec and few weeks till christmas... I keep tell her that it not false that i am born around that time.. blame my parents(j/k) but Everything is up to you.. on how you wanted to celebration for you kid birthday and christmas.. and maybe your baby can come early like few weeks before christmas
There always something about celebration around this time..
So you should be fine.. What the problem of having kid around Dec.. It good month and people who born in that month has good personaliy.....

I am a christmas baby (around that time anyway) and it kinda stinks. People forget your birthday or do insensitive things like giving joint presents.
There is only a 25% chance you will concieve in your first month so its unlikely but if you are at all concerned just start next month (what is one month in the scheme of things?)

If you think you might have trouble conceiving then you may not have a baby until valentines day or easter. It wont make much difference to the child when his birthday is just go for it.

This is going to sound insensitive (it isn't meant to be) but having one before next year means another dependant to claim on taxes. We are trying to conceive too and just realized that yesterday. Good luck!

the only problem i forsee for your child is that he/she won't be able to have a birthday party like the other kids have one.
i have two nephews born a few days before christmas. my younger nephew told his mom that he wanted to have a birthday party the month before his birthday because he wanted all his friends to come.

You most likely won't get pregnant on your first try so try anyways. And you should't worry about when your having a child. Some women can't have them at all, just be happy you get one if you do and don't worry about their birthdates either. that is just not something you should ever be thinking about

i dunno about any pros unless you are really religious, but a major con would be that you'll need to get extra presents, or the same ammount, but he/she may feel like you aren't getting enough. also birthday parties won't be super big, because everyone's busy.
good luck =)
