Coughing, especially hard coughing, uses all of the muscles in your body! So it's quite possible that your coughing is causing the soreness! When I had pnemonia, my entire body ached from my head to my toes from coughing! Good luck, maybe check with your doctor to make certain, but I'd say it's very possible that your problem is from coughing too hard!

I just got over a really bad cough/cold that caused the same type of pain ... left side - under my breast and very sensitive to touch or movement ... I couldn't breath right, cough right, have sex, sleep on my back ... nothing ... I went to 3 different doctors .. one said pulled ligament, another said pulled rib muscle and the last one took x-rays to see if I had any stress fractures ... none of them could fix it ... and none of them knew exactly what it was ... it took about 6 weeks for it to go away ... it's not completely gone and I can still feel it when I cough really deep ... guess we weren't the only ones with it ... hope you feel better soon ... !
