More information is needed. What are you trying to install? What file is damaged? Please give whole error message.
Are you an "Aministrator" on the PC? If not, you can not install software.
Have you checked to see how much free space you have the hard drive. That is the most common cause of install errors.

Basically, you don't know what you are doing....
You have probably installed a bunch of junk and have a virus.
Or -
It is possible, but unlikely that you have no space left on your hard drive. Check for available space of your hard drive.
Or-
What you are trying to install is not compatible with your older model computer or your 64 bit operating system (if you have one).
If you have no ANTI-virus program I would suggest downloading the FREE AVG Guard Program at www.grisoft.com
You probably need to give that computer a GOOD cleaning and deleting session too. Do a search and download the free Spybot S&D and run the program.
Go to control panel to add/remove programs and delete programs that you never use.
One other important question for you...what is it exactly that you are trying to install?

If you are running Vista then more then likely you have installed a program that is not compatible with vista. and you would need to remove or uninstall that program.
ir if it is a driver problem, whether it be vista or xp. you can reinstall the driver in your device manager. go to control panel. click on device manager, click on view hidden devices and scroll down to your dvd, or cd drive. click on the plus sign make it a neg. sign, and it will drop down the menu for the drivers for that device, if it has a yellow tag or flag on it, it idoes not have the full driver installed. so right click on the device driver it will bring a nother menu, one being properities, and click on that one, and it will bring up a nother menu options. and click on drivers and uninstall. then shut down your computer and restart and it will reinstall the driver automatically, and then see if it will work..

Yout computer is probably getting out dated, I would look into installing windows xp or the new vista, My guess is your using 98 and it is not recognizing a storage drive anymore. There are ways around it but, I would really suggest a windows upgrade.

Do this first...check disc space...double click MY COMPUTER>right click DISC(S) and then right click PROPERTIES....tells you how much space you have left.
If you have amply drive space, it could be that you have made recent changes to your operating system. Do follow up with questions...
