My cat had fleas that wouldn't go away because I was only treating the cat, not the carpet. Vacuum the carpet, then get some 20 mule team Borax and sprinkle it wherever the carpet is exposed. It's safe for pets and got rid of the fleas within a week.

There is resistance in some flea populations to normal Frontline. Frontline Plus is a good product that I've never seen not work if all pets in the house are treated monthly (once a month during an outbreak, you can reduce frequency once they're under control as long as no-one has a flea allergy). Or you can try Advantage or Stronghold, which are also "spot-ons" you put on the back of the neck. Your vet should know which product works best in your area.
The flea life cycle allows them to pupate, especially in colder weather, and they could be emerging from your carpets for up to a year. You can buy flea spray such as Indorex or Stay-Kill from your vets to spray everything with - carpets, curtains, furniture, dog beds... I've never been able to get rid of a big flea infestation without doing this as well as treating the animals.
Make sure you keep the spray away from any pet fish, birds or insect though - it's fatal to them as well as the fleas.

Advantage worked for my dog. Also bomb your house to get rid of all the fleas..heartz (sp?) has a flea and tick bomb that works wonders..do this first to kill all the fleas and then treat your pet..should see results pretty quick. Fyi we are coming into flea and tick season so now is the time you'll want to get a handle on it.

I swear by frontline plus, best i've used. You likely have fleas hatching from the carpets. i'd steam clean after spraying with a flea killer that kills eggs. frontline has such a spray. use frontline plus.

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

Make sure you are using proper dose of frontline and are following the instructions for use. Frontline used properly should rid your dog of flees. To rid your house of flees make sure you use a product which kills flee eggs as well as flees. Not all products do. Stick with it and good luck. You might also treat your yard with a product for insecticide.

Use Sevan dust. It can be bought at just about any garden suply outlet and is relitively cheap. Leave on carpets overnight before vaccuuming, after applying to your dogs, wait a day or two before bathing them. You can even ytreat your lawn with this to prevent reinfestations.

best thing for fleas is the oil that you put on between their shoulder blades, but only get the one at the vets, the over the counter ones don't work.
