I often wonder what it would feel like if the cops or fire department, who get federal and state funding, were to cheat on us. If I was being robbed and then only drove up to my house and yelled at the thief, but decided not to really help out because they were cheating on the job and only doing 90% of it-- the 10% was the cheating. Or if fireman drove up to my blazing house and only squirted the lawn and trees but left my house, or only watered down the fron but not the back of the house.

Taxation isn't perfect and has horrible flaws (e.g., war on Iraq)... but, as someone who formerly lived in a dictatorship and in other countries around the world-- what I'm getting for my taxes is just fine.. Amazing what a little perspective will do for you- eh? Question is-- are we as Americans spoiled?

I haven't cheated on my taxes but the thought has crossed my mind. Fear keeps me from doing it. Money is not worth the consequences should you get caught in this life and certainly not when judgment day comes.

Fear is sometimes a good thing - it lets us know danger is near.

I do think I pay too much, though, based on my income and wish it wasn't so. But, the reality is, there are more lower income people than higher income people so we do pay more of the taxes:(

Yes, although it ticks me off that I've been paying taxes more years than I've been old enough to vote, which is taxation without representation which is the entire reason the American Revolution occurred, but no one cares about American teenagers...

It isn't cheating to take every single allowable legal deduction, and you should do that. Get a good accountant and they can help you lower your tax bill without guilt.

it's good to pay uncle sam? so it's good to fund an illegal war just so you are not fined or put in jail? or paying for crackheads' emergency room visits so that they can survive another day to further corrupt their children? paying taxes always makes me feel kinda dirty.
