Yes. When I was in my early twenties, (some time ago) I answered an ad where the job entitled actually traveling to other states and was a commission paid salary. The man who I interviewed with was rather sketchy on giving out details and seemed to become irate at the number of questions that I had. When i discussed it with my mother she told me that jobs such as that one took young people out of state and charged them so much for room and board that eventually the position of the employee was more like indentured servitude. Just getting paid enough to return home would have become impossible, putting myself, or another young employee gullible enough to have taken the job in a position of desperation. I could see that she was right about it after I considered the man, what he said and wouldn't say, and what the position required as far as travel and salary. I promptly turned down the job, thanking god and my mother that I did.
Post Script;
The job involved selling appliances door to door. It was guaranteed to pay at least twenty-five thousand a year, a nice little salary at that time for a twenty something-er.
