My daughter had a problem with choking, so I waited awhile to start her on table food. Now that she is about to turn 1, I'm trying to feed her table/finger foods for every meal, but I'm having a hard time coming up with stuff she will eat. She will take a few bites of almost anything, but unless it is bread, apple chunks, or banana chunks, the rest usually ends up on the floor. She's spoiled on baby food, I think. She likes snacks like goldfish, biter biscuits, etc, but I really need some good solid meal ideas. Can anybody help me out? I'm looking for really detailed, informative answers, nothing vague or sketchy. Thank you so much!

by 1 year my children ate for a typical meal

4 oz of milk (whole milk)
half beef hot dog (boiled not nuked, cut in half lengthwise twice and then chopped, so it looked like tiny triangles)
1 tablespoon boiled peas (like 10 min boiled, very soft)
Half steamed and pureed peach

Try the book, "Baby Let's Eat" these are SIMPLE and FAST recipies for baby food that also discusses how your baby should be eating and what at what stage. It is written by Dr. something or other, I can't remember, it's been a long time...but the book is still in print!

I fed my oldest and am feeding my youngest everything I ate/eat. I make lots of mashed potatoes (most every kid loves them), mac and cheese, corn, rolls or any bread. They love soups and noodles, spaghetti, ravioli (I mash it up first) and anything else soft like that. When I feed meats, I try to cut it up in little peices so they go down easier and they don't get choked. I started feeding mine table food when they were about 8 months (which every says is a no no, but it didn't hurt them). My oldest has been eating mashed potatoes since he was 3 months. They love Cheerios and eggs for breakfast. Really, anything soft or soupy is great. Or, you can put the stuff in a food processor and make it easier for her to eat. If you do not feel comfortable giving it to her, then it might not be a good idea. Just use your best judgement. Hope this helped you some!

My son loves Mrs T's Pierogis. You can get them in the frozen food section. They are like little dumplings filled with mashed potatoes. He also enjoys pasta stuff and loves canned veggies and fruits. Mac and Cheese is another of his favorites that is pretty easy for him to eat. He is about 10 1/2 months old.

I have a 13 month old son, which is my youngest of 6, and we cook our family meals in whole.. If it is pizza or anything that could choke him we just cut it up before we give it to him. We eat mac and cheese. sandwiches, homestyle bakes like cheesy hashbrowns, soups, pretty much everything you could think of and all we do is cut it up small. Obviously if he doesnt like it he throws it on the floor or if he is full.. Remember eating whole foods they will get fuller faster.

He was eating regular table food. Yes, I think you are right about her being spoiled from baby food. Maybe start with stews and casseroles - and work on from there. Totally cut out the snackie foods like the prepackaged stuff!
