I have a pet peeve that I can not stand when I am talking to someone and they look at my left eye, then the right eye and then back and forth as I talk. I feel like they are trying to see if I am lying or something or like it's some type of psychology trick I don't know about. Or could it be that maybe they just can't focus on both eyes at the same time? Anyone have any ideas as to why this may be?

I can't ever focus on both eyes at the same time! isn't that weird? can you? can anyone? i wonder why...i always shift between both eyes. I think they are too far apart to focus on them intently at the same time.

My husband makes fun of me because I do the same thing! Not all the time, but when you are talking to someone very close up, you can't focus on both eyes, only one. I only do it when I become aware of the one eye I'm looking at, and then I think" Why am I looking at that one eye?"so I try to focus on both, but it ends up with me just shifting my gaze from one eye to the other, and it drives me crazy. As long as I'm not aware of the fact that I'm only staring at one eye, I'm fine. Sorry to all people who can't stand that!

How funny. I just had a convo with my dept head and noticed one of her eyes was weaker than the other. So I had a hard time keeping my focus on her good eye.
I don't know why this happens but it does, I am aware of it. And I do notice when it happens to me by someone else. I guess we aren't concentrating enough on the conversation. Hope someone gives a better answer than mine. Would like to know why myself.
