I think it's good in some ways as in global communities and being able to connect with people for information and ideas from all over the globe.
Globalization is the opening of global markets and integration of a global economy but has taken on many other issues in the last 5 decades as well. The negatives far outweigh the positive. MNCs (multi-national corporations) have taken over and have way too much power. Globalization is the biggest factor in the ever growing gap between the rich and the poor. Trade was meant to be more fair and give the have not countries a shot at competing globally but all globalization has done so far is make those countries worse off. Sweatshops, human migration, human rights violations have all gotten worse, not better in recent years. NGOs like the WTO, IMF and WB have had a lot to do with the growing disparity for the global south and the prosperity for the north. Globalization is a product of colonialism and today is not much different only we call it a "war on terror" but really it has just led to a new age of imperialism in many cases. Let's not even get started on the impact on the environment and societies... you could go all day on that one. Every country is beginning to look the same... McDonald's, Wal-Mart, KFC... cities and nations are losing their culture and identity at an alarming rate!
This is a huge topic... I would suggest reading "The No-Nonsense Guide to Globalization" by Wayne Ellwood. It's short and pretty thorough.

A very good thing. We are a type 1 civilisation and are moving towards a type 2 and eventually a type 3civilisation. One of the first marks of a type 2 civilisation is a unified culture, monetary system, religion, and government. This is all ready happening through globilisation, hence the "global village". Eventually we will be known as the 'Federation of Earth' or something and we will have all be one. Living in harmony. Of course by the time this happens we would have perfected space travel and we would have made contact with other civilisations. So the xenophobia we are experiencing now will simply shift from being intercontinental to being interplanetary as we become unified.

In Degree's, it is enevitable..unescapeable..
unavoidable.
Humanity shares ....or parishes.
Government and religious attempts to divide this earth..this living planet..are unachievable, unrealistic, impossible, impractical, and attritive to the ballance of natural systems and ecosystems.
A wise man once ordered an infant who was claimed by two women to be divided in half, and each woman given a portion of the carcas...that is the mentality of religon and government today..
you can not divide a liveing thing and expect it to survive.
Globalization will be both positive and negative...it is essential, in eather case.

Like a lot of other things, it can be good or evil :-) We're at a point now where we can see the good things and support those and where we can see where it's bad and try to reform in those areas. There are obviously some things that many, many people are unhappy with. Those things should be dealt with so that people's rights and freedoms are not infringed upon.

I guess we'll find out eventually, but it's probably going to make people's way of life more similar all around the world. That could be good or bad, depending on your opinion.

I think it's good, but there are consequences, such as lost culture I guess.
I think it would raise the standard of living for everyone, but my girlfriend, who majored in economics, argues that it is evil and bad. I'd like to know too.
Either way, at this rate, I think it's pretty unavoidable.

In some ways it's good because we get to communicate and get to know people from other countries. In other ways, it's bad because we are losing our identities and becoming the same.
