Depends on what kind of material. I got some canvas Chucks and painted them orange with acrylics from Wal-Mart and they haven't faded or cracked; it's been over a year since I painted them. first you have to rub off the ouside coat of the shoe with rubbing alcho. Then you should use the shoe paint that they sell in shoe repair shops. don't use spraypaint cuz it will dry and crack when you walk in them. after your done painting them make sure you let them dry in room temp because again it will crack and break off. Just take your time in painting it and have fun.
