Don't listen to these people who are doing the number as a positive. the exponent should not be positive because if it was positive the number wouldn't be a decimal rather it would be a whole number.

it's 47 x 10 to the negative 4th power
Just count the zeros before the whole number and make the exponent of the '10' a negative.

0.000047= 4.7 * 10^5
u would have to move the decimal 5 spaces to the right
this means that the exponential number is positive.
