i think your spot on.

i think mcclarens problem is hes got 2 world class attacking central midfielders that dont perform together but he plays them anyway to the detriment of the team. with Hargreaves holding it would allow Gerrard to push forward doing what he does best.

you need Lennon and Joe Cole's pace on the wings, and when Owens back him and Rooney will be awesome in attack.

look at Greece. they won in 2004 because of good tactics and hard work. imagine what a side of England's calibre could do with a master tactician at the helm.

mcclarens got to go

To get the best out of Lampard he needs to be left in dressing room cleaning boots cos thats all he's good for. When fit, Joe Cole on the left, Aaron Lennon on the right with Gerrard and Hargreaves in the middle.
With Hargreaves holding it allows Gerrard to do what he does best and push forward.

Lampard could be brilliant if he would actually make all his shots. I don't want to say he is completely useless though. He is still a good player with great capabilities and I think he'd be better for the team if 1) the team found the right set up, formation, etc and 2) Lampard was consistent! All else put aside, he is a good player but is unable to shine with the current going-ons with the England squad. Just have to find that set up that really meshes things together well...Allows the players to play more uniformly and at their best.

Don't rate Lampard, but England are way off winning anything. Our country seems to think that we are good, but we're not.

When we play a decent team in the tournaments it just doesn't happen:

2006 - Sweden drew Portugal - lost
2004 - France - lost Portugal - lost
2002 - Brazil - lost (Argentina won)
2000 - Portugal lost Romania lost (Germany won)
1998 - Romania - lost Argentina - lost

2/11 wins against the top teams is terrbile when before each tournament there is always hype about us winning it.

There is no reason not to have both players in the same team. Hargreaves is a holding player. Lampard is great at getting forward and scoring goals.

Scoring goals isn't the be all and end all of a midfielder. I want someone who'll track back, push forward, give 100% and may be able to nick a goal or 2.

Stevie G is superior to Lampard in everything but regular goalscoring. And Fat Frank isn't vice captain....Stevie G is

Hargreaves and Gerrard in centre mid please Steve McC!!!

Nope because even with all our big names that we had at last year's World Cup we didn't get far, did we?

We need a manager that can form a real team out of our players. For example - and yeah I hate to admit, as they're the enemy - look at what Jurgen Klinsmann did for Germany. He's a class man and what he did for the team was just brilliant. We have loads of good individual players but for some reason they just can't play really well as a team.

bang on! the rest of the team picks itself. it needs to be Hargreaves and Gerrard, with Gerrard and Lampard neither knows when to sit and when to go forward it just dont work and with Hargreaves sitting and Gerrard going forward and doing his "thing" and distroying the opposition!!
