are you a mature student?? i did'nt need access to get on my degree as a mature student. i had to write a 1000 word essay for the admisssions tutor and got in through clearing. one of the guys on my course done access and said if he had known that he could of gone straight on to a degree then he would of and not wasted a year on access. but this does depend on the indivdual uni. as for accommodation you will need to speak to the accomdation office and find out what you need to do.

I know of a few people who did the access course through college to gain university entry... they loved it!..
although i can't comment on the access course myself having studied A levels instead, I am a university student and can tell you that when you apply for university you will have to state if you wish to live at the university or at home..
once the university knows that you want to stay there you will be sent a booklet of information (costs of the dorms and stuff) and a sheet that you will have to fill in with your top 3 choices of accomodation, the university will sort it out from there for you :)
hope this helps
best of luck in your studies

I have seen a lot of kids who have come to college before they graduated from high school - "access" students. In general I think it is a bad idea. College is not just about taking courses, it is about whether you can defend yourself socially. A 15 or 16 year old kid is at a serious disadvantage when facing a 21 or 22 year old manipulator.
Worst case was when a 17 year old wound up trying to take her own life after a guy in her dorm started a relationship with her, then raped her and left her pregnant. That was extreme, but I have seen far more cases where kids wound up with negative results than with positive results.
My advice, finish high school with your friends, go to college with kids your own age. "To everything there is a season" as the Bible says.

although you did not specify whether you are talking of
private or goverment sponsored as the case apply in many countries, the truth is in our country we call it orientation programme. during this period you get accustomed to environment, courses, collegues and halls of residence. Due to limited number of facilities as this problem faces many universities, priorities will be set aside as far as accomodation is concerned. This involve nature of enrollment (private or goverment), disability and gender equility. Under this situation its usual for someone not to get accomodation.
