No, sex wears off quickly, true love should have loyal friendship most of all.

There is a huge difference between sex and love. I have had sex in my life, and didn't feel an ounce of love for the person. But, when I have sex with the person I love, it takes on a whole new meaning - lovemaking. Sex is not the most important thing in a marriage or relationship. You can be in a meaningful relationship with someone who can't perform sexually, but fulfills every one of your other needs. There is such a thing called intimacy. I would rather have intimacy any day with someone I love than to have sex with someone I didn't care two hoots about. Your counselor needs counseling.

No, sex is not the most important thing in a relationship. Its one of the most important, but not THE most important.

Love, communication, and respect are the most important things and if you have those things, the sex is GREAT!!!

A relationship based on sex alone cannot, and will not, survive because after the lust has died down (and it DOES die down after a while) there is nothing of substance to keep two people together. People who think that sex is the most imporant thing should not get married.

That marriage counselor is a quack...

Sex is a biological process, nothing more. It is little different than eating or sleeping, only more fun. Love and passion are much different. Hookers will rarely kiss their clients since sex is biological but kissing is passion. Sex is fun, but the real long lasting part is holding on and wanting to hold on and just be with that person. Money is important and you can't live on love.

BUT, sex is the third strongest drive in the male of the species, right after breathing and eating. It is necessary for guys, and not necessarily from the person they are having the relationship with. Having sex on a regular basis just gets the guy on an even keel where he can begin to have a relationship.

I think that communication is the most important thing in a marriage, and sex is very important too this is a way of communicating on a more intimate level... money plays a role but if you both love each other and you live within your means then it really isn't that big of a deal.. Never marry for money!!!!

I think your marriage councilor friend has an extremely warped sense of relationships and needs to actually finish their university courses. Anyone can say they are a councilor it takes an actual education to be one. I think that all of those things are important in a relationship but that there are people all over the world in lasting loving relationships where the sex is not the greatest but the mutual respect and resultant dignity are abundant. As for money, get real if financial security were required for marital longevity then 95% of all marriages world wide would fail. You were not seriously thinking we would believe the statement you made had any basis in fact did you?

Sex and love are different things. A successful relationship does involve a good sexual relationship but sex is not the most important thing. Love, respect, common interests, the ability to laugh together, also make up a good relationship. Money is important and one of the major causes of divorce...love should be first in my opinion.

NO, sex is NOT the most important thing in love.

What's most important is trust, honesty, commitment.

That councelor is seriously cracked in the head if they believe that.

Yes, I believe that sex is important in a marriage, but it's by far not the most important thing. Besides too many people base marriages on sex, and they fail big time.

Sex do play one important part in love. But depend on wat the love we talking about... there are siblings, parental love etc..sex is one of important thing to go through as a couple. But I think the feeling of love is the most important and sex could be one of the way to get much physically n mentally close to each other.

I don't know about THE most important, but the lack of a satifactory sex life WILL kill a marriage for many people.
People MUST consider their spouse's sexual needs, and they shouldn't be tied to anything else (such as "he never cleans the cat litter, so I'm not putting out").

Ignore them at your peril.

EDIT to the women who say it's not very important: it's important to whoever thinks it's important. It may not be important to YOU, but if it's important to your husband and you dismiss that, he will be miserable.

The most important thing that leads to a successful relationship is first loving God, and putting him first in everything we do, especially in a marriage as that is a committment made in the eyes of God. As long as he comes first, everything else will fall into place!
