This is not the precise answer you want to know. However, I'll answer: TOO MANY. I live near Des Plaines, IL, headquarters of McDonald's (I think) and also what I believe is the location of the very first McD's. You'd think people would tire of McD's and some other business would cut into the market (especially in morning). But in morning, McD's remains supreme and has been for decades. Driving to work (a 45 minute commute) northwest of this area, I pass an astonishing 7 or 8 Mc Donald's going one way to work--all of them open at 5-6 am...I think by that time, I can tell about everything going on at McD's just be reading the specials on the stores while driving by...

I don't know, but there should probably at least 2 American Heart Association offices for every one McDonald's
