1. No one is going to tell you how to abuse and/or gain unauthorized access to someone else's devices here. This IS a felony your talking about.
2. You lack the technical knowledge to adequately do this to begin with. You have not even given the model of the firewall, let alone which ports are allowed, or any other information which would facilitate exploitation.
3. Given that you lack this knowledge, it is absurd to think that you can get the better of a trained staff of professionals who obviously want to keep you from messing with their network.

You're being blocked by some sort of blocking system. It might be on a firewall or it might be on some other type of system -- hardware or software.
At any rate, the only way to bypass something like that would be to use an external proxy. However, there's a major problem with trying to do that -- most blocking systems block access to known proxies as well.
So as a practical matter there's little chance of you defeating the system.

You could try asking the IT guy at your university, but there must have been a reason why they blocked MSN Messenger. Actually, I would try using Trillian. It's a free instant messaging program that lets you talk to any contacts that use MSN, Yahoo messenger, or AOL Instant messenger.

THATS THE IDEA!! THE FIREWALL HAS BLOCKED THE "PORT" THAT ALLOWS ACCESS TO MSN, WHEN YOU USE MSN YOU BASICALLY ALLOW REMOTE ACCESS TO YOU COMPUTER AND THIS IS A SECURITY RISK, YOU WOULD NEED ADMIN LEVEL ACCESS TO YOUR NETWORK TO ALLOW THE PORT TO "LISTEN". THERE IS PERHAPS ONE WAY TO USE MSN AND THAT BE TO USE ANOTHER COMPUTER ON THE INTERNET AS A PROXY, BUT YOU MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SERVICE
