firstly youve got to really want too and not quit for anyone else. I used the patches and i put fresh ones on every night before bed so that the nicotine gets in your system, this makes it easier when you first wake up. Also try extra strong mints ( i got addicted to them instead lol ) and also find somthing to keep you busy. Also change your routine for instance when youve had a meal instead of sitting down to relax get up and wash up or go for a walk to recondition your brain that you need to smoke. Ive been stopped 15 years and still occasionally i crave , it doesnt last long. Also a very good tip is to give someone you trust the money you would be saving on the cigs and save up and buy somthing you really want good luck you can do it.

My doctor recommends going cold turkey. She thinks that is the most effective way. The key is that you have to WANT to quit.
I took a different approach. I asked my doctor to prescribe me Chantix. It's the first prescription drug designed only for quitting smoking. It's not a depression medication with the added side effect of helping people quit smoking. The only real side effects that I had (when I first started taking it) was an upset stomach for about 30 minutes after taking the medicine and weird dreams.
Beyond that, the medicine was great! I've used it to quit (haven't smoked in 5 months now) and 2 of my coworkers took it and haven't smoked in 3-4 months.
Good luck!

Cold Turkey then its just 1 minute at a time within 3-4 weeks you'll feel much better after a year the urge to smoke is nearly gone. But if you do quite and then puff on one say in a week or 4 weeks or a year later you'll likely start all over.
There are patches and such and you can go to your doctor as I did and got some pills Welbrtrin sr that after a week or so you just don't want to smoke.
Good luck.

Ok, this worked for my mom and she smoked for over 35 years. She called the hotline at the American Lung Association and they gave her a counselor who would call her with support, and who she could call if she had questions. The counselor told her to take the amount of cigs she normally smokes, and put them in a baggie. So say you are a two pack a day-er, that's 40, thats all you get for 24 hours. Then for the next 2 days you only put in 39. Then two days at 38 and so on, till you get to 10, then go cold turkey.
Having the counselor was a very important part.
Good luck.

Ever consider doing different habits? like sex, food or even work .
Scientifically the best solution is to; every morning after brushing your teeth etc, start drinking half a cup of hot water making sure its not too hot (this will weaken the taste buds stimuli) or carrying a mini roll of tooth paste around with you, everytime you have an urge for smoke just simply eat a bit of the toothpaste (this will distinct the stimuli to an extent)

I keep on trying myself. But you have to have a date to start and I usually start before I am somewhere I cant smoke for a while, like going on a plane, kids party etc... I also use the patch. I dont feel it cuts down on my cravings, but it scares me not to smoke, because if you do whille on the patch you could have a heart attack from Nictitine over does.
Good luck!!

Think differently. Instead of "quitting," just don't have a cigarette today. One day is easy. Then tomorrow, just don't have one then. Keep on doing that.
You might "slip" one day and wind up with a smoke. When you realize it, just put it down and tell yourself you're done with that one. Do not consider yourself a failure if you slip. Just start the next day deciding not to have a cigarette that day...
Good luck.

I QUIT SMOKING JUNE 2005. I MADE UP MY MIND, I SMOKED MY LAST CIGARETTE, ALONE.AND I NEVER SMOKED AGAIN. JUST MAKE UP YOUR MIND AND NEVER LOOK BACK. IT IS GOING TO BE HARD AND YOU ARE GOING TO BE MORE IRRITABLE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE,BUT WHEN IT'S OVER YOU'LL BE SO PROUD OF YOURSELF!I STILL MISS IT. THE RELEASE OF IT, THE INSTANT STRESS RELIEF THAT COMES FROM IT.BUT I NO LONGER CRAVE IT.I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD SUPPORT SYSTEM AROUND YOU.GOOD LUCK.YOU CAN GET THRU IT, EVEN IF YOU DO IT COLD TURKEY LIKE I DID, IT IS POSSIBLE!

Natural methods- go to your local Whole foods and ask the herbalist about licorice pills. They will make the cigs taste NASTY. Also you can chew chamomile leaves and drink chamomile tea with honey to ease the nervous tension that goes along with quitting. You can do it! Once you are quit for a month you can be quit forever. It's up to you!
