yesterday my family was all working hard to get the house clean for company and mom was stressing a little. trying to get everything done, and telling us what to do and everything. any hoo, she asked my my lil sis (age 11) where the broom was and she said " Gee, I don't know mom where did you put it when you landed." normally, Emma would've gotten her mouth slapped, but mom had too much to deal with at the moment and just gave her the "look" and told her to get back to work. should i talk to her about it? she's doesn't normally talk like that (to our parents anyway, she does to me and our other sibs all the time though. she's the queen of sarcasm). or should i just forget about it and stay out of it?

You don't want to get involved with disciplining your siblings. That is your parents job. I am sure that if it had upset your mom, she would have done something, or at least she should have done something, right then and there. In any situation in life, especially when you are contemplating actions that might upset other, you have to think about what your role in the group is. Your role in your family's group is not to discipline your sister. It is your role to be a good example and not make the same type of comments.
You won't realize until you are older how much your younger siblings take cues from you on how to act and what to do. So just be respectful to your parents and your sister will follow that lead. If she doesn't it is up to your parents to correct.

I'd stay out of if for now but step in if you hear her using sarcasm with you mom or dad the next time. She might have just been in a bad mood that day. Let her know that she needs to watch her mouth and be respectful to your parents, and everyone else too. Sarcasm really gets on peoples nerves and before long she will get real annoying.

I would talk to her it is the age i think, my stepdaughter is 12 and has the biggest smart mouth I have ever seen. Some of the stuff she says does get her in trouble. But you need to talk to her before her smart mouth gets her in a fight at school family may put up with that but other kids won't.

Okay, admit it, that was funny!

Your Mom gave "the look" and that was all that was necessary. No need for you to say anything further.

And I hope you were joking when you said your sister would have normally had her mouth slapped. If your sister is being hit, that's wrong. When you see physical abuse in your family, that's the time to open your mouth and say something!

I wouldnt get into it. You're little sis is just being a kid and was mad because she had to clean up! I would go to you're mom and just tell her everything will be fine and she should just relax. Moms do get under a lot of stress!! Goodluck

I would forget about it and stay out of it because you aren't the mom. That's between them. I know you don't like her attitude but she is 11. We've all been nasty to each other and will continue to say imperfect things in frustration, etc. I think its great that u care though! She'll grow out of it eventually.

Congratulations on being the perfect big sister !!...Obviously you respect your mum very much and also are a very caring sister......yes, you should tell your little sister how lucky she was for not getting into trouble for being so disrespectful to your mum.....warn her also that next time mum might just not be so busy as not to punish her for this.......tell your sister, you are only telling her this, because you care about her and dont want to see her getting into trouble with your parents......It is really refreshing to read about your character.....good luck and stay on the right path................

I think that you should talk to her about it. Even though she is sarcastic with you and your other siblings, she has bever been with your parents. This could be the beginning to a long road. There may be other issues with school, friends, boys, or anything else. I would definately talk to her about it, just to be sure there wasn't anything going on in her mind besides just trying to be funny. Hope this helps.

It sounds like your sister was just being a kid. I think your mom was probably real stressed out and your sister was reacting to it and of course getting stressed herself. Leave it alone

Hey, she's your sister and you can say anything you want to her. Also, tell her she needs to show a little more respect to your parents no matter what the issue is.
