Absolutely! And he appeared on the Uncle Kracker remake of the song a few years back. It was/is one of the few remakes that rivals the original in my opinion.

Day after day I'm more confused
And yet I look for the light through the pourin' rain
You know that's a game that I hate to lose
And I'm feeling restrained
Ain't it a shame?
Chorus:
Gimme the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll, and driftaway
Beginning to think that I'm wasting time
I don't understand the things I do
The world outside seems so unkind
And I'm countin' on you
To carry me through
(Chorus)
And when my mind is free
You know a melody can move me
And when I'm feeling blue
The guitars are coming through to soothe me
Thanks for the joy that you've given me
I want you to know I believe in your song
Your rhythm and rhyme and harmony
Help me along
Makin' me strong
(Chorus out)
I might not have been that old when he was popular, but I grew up with my mom listening to this kind of music, and eventually fell in love with it myself. It is as the old saying goes in my family though, Music makes the world go round!

Yes, Uncle Cracker covered his hit song 'Drift Away', and it was actually a duet with Dobie Himself.

Also, the Dixie Chicks have covered 2 of his songs, and had him perform on stage with them on New Year's Eve a few years back.

That is a great song! I heard a version of it that is done by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones! It's even better if you can believe it!

Yeah - I remember that song.
It was hot hit in the sumemr of 1973.
That same summer, I was visiting in Chicago and met this very hot Latino chicka...she and I all but did it in an elevator while that song was playing.
Funny how songs remind us of events!

Yeah, isn't that the song that Uncle Cracker or John Mayer or someone recently covered?
